Importance and virtues of Ramadan
Allah choose Ramadan to be the fasting month because the first month of the holy Quran were first revealed to Muhammad pbuh in Ramadan, which is the ninth month in the lunar year.
Importance of Ramadan
The noble month of Ramadan is a season,
whoever neglects it is among those who are doomed by Allah.
The prophet pbuh once was stepping down from his mimbar and every step he used to say Ameen Ameen Ameen and the companions asked to him O Messenger of Allah you ascended the member and said ameen, ameen, ameen and He pbuh said it was Gabriel telling me o muhammad whoever gets Ramadan and he is not forgiven, then he will enter hellfire, Allah will cast him far away so say ameen and the prophet pbuh said ameen. [Sahih Ibn hibban : 915]
Getting closer to Allah
We should do our best to get closer to Allah,
Allah SWT did not limit ways to get closer to him that we are unable to do Allah gave us a whole array of variations.
Allah swt instructed us to fast and he gave us the glad tidings that whoever fasts the month of ramadan believing in its obligation and anticipating for the reward, Allah the almighty would forgive his previous sins not only that we know there are eight gates to enter Jannah and one of them is called Al Raiyan, only those who fast will enter from this gate.
We have to fast and offer a lot of good deeds in the month of Ramadan.
There is night prayer known as taraweeh
The Messenger of Allah said:
Whosoever prays with the Imam until he concludes his night prayer
Allah would record for him the reward of a whole night as if you prayed from isha until fajr. [Sunan Ibn Majah : 1327]
So if you pray with your imam for an hour to two hours Allah would give you the reward of a whole night
Not only that if you do this every single night The prophet pbuh tells us again whoever prays Ramadan there is night prayer in Ramadan the whole of Ramadan
Allah forgives his previous sins providing that he has done this believing in the reward and anticipating of it 30 days.
Allah says to his prophet pbuh and the prophet pbuh informed us that if you offer night prayer in lailatul qadar the night of decree which is one of the night of the last 10 nights of ramadan if you pray that night Allah would forgive all of your previous sins. So anyone who miss the chance and opportunity would be considered to be insane would not be considered as a proper logical intellectual Muslim because he's giving this reward away for nothing for what for a movie for a tv program to sit comfy in your house all of this can be done later on but getting closer to Allah cannot be except in this season the season of Opportunities.
Sadaqa averts calamity and increases sustenance and blessings in one’s life.
Allah says in the Qur’an:
Who is it that would loan Allah a goodly loan so He may multiply it for him many times over? And it is Allah who withholds and grants abundance, and to Him you will be returned. [Qur’an, 2: 245]
The Messenger of Allah pbuh tells us that the people on the day of judgement will be under the shade of their charity of their sadaqa.
This is why the prophet pbuh was not seen more generous than the month of ramadan so it is an opportunity for those who cannot pray night prayer to give generously for the cause of Allah to help the poor, to help the needy, to feed the hungry, to assist in giving dawah to the Muslims and the non-muslims, to build the mosques and the Islamic centres so that we can spread the word of Allah.
And this is the real wealth which will enter with you in the grave and will give you the shade on the day of judgement Insha Allah.
Reciting Glorious Qur'an
Ramadan is the month in which the Qur'an was revealed, which is a guide for mankind, and a clear teaching that shows the truth and makes clear the difference between right and wrong. [ Qur'an_2:183]
if you ask any Muslim they will tell you it's the months of fasting and it is the month of the Quran.
So this month dedicated to recite the Quran to memorize the Quran
to understand the meaning that you're reciting and reading because you will not get closer to Allah better than what Allah has revealed to us.
If you read the biographies of companions of muhammad pbuh and see how they recite the Quran you would be astonished at least you could do is finish the whole Quran in Ramadan
This is released there are people who recite the whole Quran once a day Osman Ibn Affan may Allah be pleased with him prayed the whole Quran in one raka'h (one raka'h of wire) from isha until fazr prayer near the Kaba
He recited the whole Quran and a lot of the muslims don't even know how the Quran looks like except in Ramadan and they do that only for few minutes
the month of ramadan is an opportunity to reconnect with the people especially those whom we severed our connection with is an opportunity to purify our hearts and to remove our differences
It's an opportunity to forgive and pardon and to reconnect with those whom we love and with those whom Allah ordered us to connect with.
Translation: The Messenger of Allah said (Allah said), Every good deed of Adam's son is for him except fasting; it is for Me. and I shall reward (the fasting person) for it. Verily, the smell of the mouth of a fasting person is better to Allah than the smell of musk. [ Sahih-al Bukhari : 5927]
The Messenger of Allah pbuh said:

Translation: Fasting and the Qur’an intercede for a man. Fasting says, ‘O my Lord, I have kept him away from his food and his passions by day, so accept my intercession for him.’ The Qur’an says, ‘I have kept him away from sleep by night, so accept my intercession for him.’ Then their intercession is accepted. [Miskat al-Masabih : 1963]
The Messenger of Allah pbuh said:
Translation: When the month of Ramadan comes, the gates of Paradise are opened and the gates of the (Hell) Fire are closed, and the devils are chained. [Sahih al-Bukhari : 3277]
The Messenger of Allah pbuh said:
Translation: There are three whose supplication is not rejected: The fasting person when he breaks his fast, the just leader, and the supplication of the oppressed person; Allah raises it up above the clouds and opens the gates of heaven to it. And the Lord says: ‘By My might, I shall surely aid you, even if it should be after a while. [ Al-Tirmidhi : 3598]
